Roller bearings
This family uses cylindrical, tapered or barrel-shaped rollers. Line contact carries markedly more radial load than a ball bearing of the same size, but the speed limit is lower and the type is more sensitive to mounting accuracy.
Types and variants
The distinct designs that sit under this category.
Cylindrical roller (NU, NJ, N, NUP)
High radial load and speed. The flange arrangement decides which way the bearing can take axial load.
Tapered roller (302xx / 322xx / 332xx)
Takes radial and one-directional axial load together; always mounted as an opposed pair with a set preload.
Spherical roller (222xx / 223xx)
Two rows of barrel rollers in a spherical outer raceway — absorbs misalignment even under heavy load. The workhorse of heavy industry.
Needle roller (NA, HK, NK)
Long, slim rollers — the same load in a much smaller section when space is tight.
Where it is used
The applications this category most often serves.
- Crushers, breakers and vibrating screen drives
- Paper machines and roll assemblies
- Cranes, hoists and rope drums
- Heavy-duty gearboxes
- Railway axleboxes and traction assemblies
What we ask when selecting
What we need in order to find the right part. You do not need all of it — we can work out the rest together.
- Magnitude and components of the load
- Radial only, or radial plus axial? The answer picks the type outright.
- Angular misalignment
- Long, flexing shafts or separately machined housings call for a spherical roller type.
- Flange arrangement
- In cylindrical types NU floats, NJ locates one way, NUP both ways.
- Lubrication method
- Grease, oil bath or circulation? It affects cage and clearance choice.
Typical designations
Examples that make the designation readable — not a stock commitment.
- NU 210 ECP
- Cylindrical roller, enhanced internal design, polyamide cage.
- 32210 J2/Q
- Tapered roller — mounted in an opposed pair with preload.
- 22217 EK
- Spherical roller with a tapered bore (K) — fits a plain shaft via an adapter sleeve.
- HK 2020
- Drawn cup needle roller — a slim section for tight spaces.

Send us the designation or the dimensions — we will find the match.
A code you cannot find in the catalogue, a faded marking on an old bearing, or just the dimensions — any of the three is enough. The wrong bearing costs more than a late one.
