Belt & pulley systems
The belt drive is the most common and most forgiving link between motor and load: shaft axes need not be perfectly aligned, the belt slips before the machine breaks, and it damps vibration. A correct selection comes from tension, pulley diameter and belt profile taken together — most premature failures are a matter of tension or alignment, not of the belt.
Types and variants
The distinct designs that sit under this category.
V-belts (classical and narrow)
Transmits by friction and is the industrial standard. The narrow SPZ, SPA, SPB and SPC profiles carry more power in the same space.
Timing (synchronous) belts
Toothed geometry — no slip, position is kept. HTD, GT and T/AT profiles serve where positioning matters.
Poly-V (micro-V) belts
A slim multi-rib profile that stays flexible on small pulleys and at high speed.
Pulleys and taper bushes
A taper bush mounts the pulley concentric, backlash-free and removable.
Where it is used
The applications this category most often serves.
- Fans, extractors and ventilation sets
- Pump and compressor drives
- Crusher, mill and grinder lines
- Agricultural machinery and threshers
- Conveyor drive assemblies
What we ask when selecting
What we need in order to find the right part. You do not need all of it — we can work out the rest together.
- Power transmitted and speed ratio
- kW and rev/min — the profile and the number of grooves follow from these.
- Centre distance
- The figure that sets belt length, and the take-up allowance with it.
- Pulley diameters
- A small pulley shortens flex life — the minimum diameter has to be respected.
- Environment
- Temperature, oil contact and dust change the belt compound.
Typical designations
Examples that make the designation readable — not a stock commitment.
- SPZ 1250 Lw
- Narrow section V-belt; the number is the effective length in mm.
- SPB 2500 Lw
- A larger section for higher power.
- 8M-1600-30
- HTD timing belt: 8 mm pitch, 1600 mm long, 30 mm wide.
- Taper Lock 2517
- Taper bush — the link between pulley and shaft.

Send us the designation or the dimensions — we will find the match.
A code you cannot find in the catalogue, a faded marking on an old bearing, or just the dimensions — any of the three is enough. The wrong bearing costs more than a late one.
