O-rings and static seals

Seals

The O-ring is the simplest and most widespread seal between two static faces. Whether it works depends not only on the ring but on the groove it sits in and the squeeze it gets: in the wrong groove even the right O-ring leaks. Material selection starts with fluid compatibility, not with price.

Types and variants

The distinct designs that sit under this category.

Standard size O-rings

Defined by inside diameter × section, in metric and AS568 size families.

Material families (NBR, FKM, EPDM, silicone, PTFE)

Fluid compatibility and temperature range are chosen here.

Back-up rings

Stop the O-ring extruding into the gap under high pressure.

Axial clamp seals and gasket rings

Take the place of an O-ring on flange, cover and housing joints.

Where it is used

The applications this category most often serves.

  • Hydraulic and pneumatic connection points
  • Pump, valve and housing joints
  • Food and pharmaceutical equipment, with the right compound
  • Compressor and refrigeration circuits
  • General maintenance and repair

What we ask when selecting

What we need in order to find the right part. You do not need all of it — we can work out the rest together.

Inside and section diameter
Without both figures the ring is not defined.
Groove size and squeeze
Static joints typically want 15–30% squeeze; too little leaks, too much cuts.
Fluid and temperature
The decisive pair — steam, oil and brake fluid belong to different families.
Pressure and clearance gap
Together they determine whether a back-up ring is needed.

Send us the designation or the dimensions — we will find the match.

A code you cannot find in the catalogue, a faded marking on an old bearing, or just the dimensions — any of the three is enough. The wrong bearing costs more than a late one.
